Notes

Every metric should end in an action

Most restaurant dashboards answer one question — what happened — and leave the harder one to the operator at the end of a fourteen-hour day. That is the wrong division of labour.

Every number should answer either "what happened?" or "what should I do next?"

An insight that stops at the observation is a report. An insight that carries its evidence, its recommendation, and the action in the same panel is a decision the operator can make in the time they actually have.

Your Tuesday regulars are drifting.

Guests who used to visit weekly on Tuesdays have stretched to fortnightly over the last six weeks, and the drift started the week the quiz night moved.

Signals
